Estonian Independence Day celebration
Portlandi Eesti Selts – 75 – Portland Estonian Society
Come join us at the celebration of 108th Estonian Independence Day & the 75th anniversary of the Portland Estonian Society!
The celebration will be held on Saturday, 2/21 at 2pm – 5500 SW Dosch Rd. Portland, OR
The program will feature a variety of performances, including the Tulehoidjad Folk Dancers, children’s group, Kannel Ensemble, and local singers.
Helve Kalmann will present on early history of PES. We are honored to welcome Honorary Consul of Estonia in Oregon, Skip Newberry, Toronto KESKUS CEO Ellen Valter, Estonian diaspora researcher Maarja Merivoo-Parro along with our Baltic friends.
The formal celebration is followed by dinner and movie presentation of films about the escape from Estonia during WWII and reaching the displaced persons camps in Germany. The movie presentations will start approximately 5:00pm, subtitles for films are available.

2025. aastal tähistasid Portlandi eestlased jõule ja aastavahetust 13. detsembril Portlandi Läti majas.
Suur tänu, et tulite tähistama jõule ja aastalõpu pühasid eestlaste jõulupeol. Meil oli tore koos laulda, tunda rõõmu laste etteastetest ja jõuluvana külaskäigust ning maitsta traditsioonilist pühade toitu! Suur tänu kõikidele abilistele!
Thank you everyone who came to the Estonian Christmas Party in the Latvian Hall on December 13th. We enjoyed singing, seeing kids show off their talent, Santa’s visit, and traditional holiday food. Big thanks to all the volunteers and helpers!
